The pictures of the building below are from Alta Loma County Park. It was built using the same original architectural plans that will be used for Stephen Sorensen Park Gymnasium and Community Building.   The plans that will be used for our park have been slightly modified. For example, the gymnasium is turned 90 degrees and the meeting rooms are no longer staggered, but have a smooth appearance which also makes them slightly larger.  Ours is to be on the west side of the basketball courts, so the setting will be also different.

Here are the architectural plans for the Sorensen Park Gymnasium.

The Park Board was invited to meet on July 11, 2007 at Supervisor Antonovich's Field Office with the artists who will be creating unique artwork top enhance the interior of the Community Center/Gymnasium.  The artists work through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and are professionals with working relationship with Los Angeles County.

Norm Hickling graciously let us use his office then continued to help answer questions and run the business of the Antelope Valley.  Dominic Fohrenkam was there for the early part of the meeting so was able to meet Ms. Carrie Brown of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission as well as Mr. Anderson and Ms. Garrison who showed us many examples of the works of art they have created to beautify Los Angeles County.

We were very impressed by the quality of their portfolio, as well as their courtesy and interest in Lake Los Angeles and the Antelope Valley.  They had already been out to see the park and our community and were interested in hearing of our views of our desert fauna, flora, history, and landscape.

Here are a few photos of the day:
