·                    Phase II: The work is two months ahead of schedule, grading is complete, the contractor is efficient and using GPS technology that produces top quality ball fields, grading is completed, irrigation and electrical are present concurrent work.  Next week the retaining wall for the parking lot will be cut.  The work is going very well. The archeologists are carefully documenting archeological finds and are curating the finds in the Antelope Valley Indian Museum.  The request was made to consider adding a display in the community building that will be built on the site.  Carol later added that she has been working with representatives from local Indian tribes and the artifacts found at the park will have a display  in the future community building as well as a displayed information board. Completion date for Phase II is April 2006.  We are ahead of schedule but possible rain days are included in the schedule.  The phase is not impacting the lake bed at all. Nothing of Phase II  would impact the future plans for the lake

·                    ESA consultant is assessing the full 100 acres for building feasibility.  Feasibility study is expected completed in mid-December: Percolation, Archeology, and Fish and Game are big concerns and possible constraints.  Building is very limited in certain areas. Percolation was discussed in length.  Mary Hanna reminded everyone that as had been discussed in the past, Challenger was a possible alternate building site if there were insurmountable percolation problems.

Committee reports:

·                    Friends of the Park: Bob Mahaffey. Asked for volunteers and still needs more help. Please get involved in your community.  County will support expansion of the park recreational opportunities with found funding.  The priorities stated are Skate Park and BMX Park that are less costly to build than an indoor pool and will affect many children.  Anyone who would like to be involved is welcome.

·                    Fund raiser Committee: Dominic Fohrenkam

·                    Bylaws Committee: Kathy Terrones is ill, so Robin reported that there have been changes made to the Bylaws because the park is now a county entity, and that there is the addition of the Friends of the Park.

·                    County reports- Carol Helferich will create a poster asking volunteers to help the Friends.  Some activities reported upon- Haunted Harvest Activities, Toy giveaway.  Toy loan activity is still progressing with new toys as there was noticed some of the toy boxes had been emptied.  Robin Nute suggested she work with Deputy Stambook.  All of the activities are listed in the park web page at http://www.lakelapark.org, in the brochure available at the County library, the video store, at the park, and various businesses in town.  Lake LA Days (Lake LA Chamber of Commerce) will begin setting booths at the park at 9:00. Election committee- Bob Mahaffey reported on the rules for election.  The applications must be in by Nov 2, 2005. They are available at the park, library, and in Lake LA News
